Incredible footage shows a handcuffed escape artist crawling inside a washing machine and freeing himself from the shackles as it spins

  • The escape artist linked five sets of steel handcuffs around his hands and shackles on his legs
  • Wearing a swimsuit, eye goggles, and breathing apparatus, he backed himself into the tiny machine
  • As the machine made sudsy turns, the man took a little less than a minute to unshackle himself
  • Getting caught inside of a washing machine is no one's idea of a good time, but one professional escape artist shacked himself into a small tumbler and managed to come out alive, and a lot cleaner.

  • Rick Maisel, who bills himself as The Washing Machine Man, is an escape artist who says he is the only one in the world who can escape from handcuffs and leg irons while in the spin cycle of a washing machine.

  • The stunt occurred in December 2016 in Las Vegas, where Maisel often performs the trick at entertainment venues.

Maisel starts off with a bold claim - that he is the only person in the world who can escape from shackles from inside a washing machine

Maisel manages to stuff his skinny body all the way into the 24 inch drum of the machine

Curled up with his swim suit on and googles covering his eyes, another man closes and locks the door

Inside, the escape artist tumbles around in the machine, with lots of suds showing in the window

Dressed in a blue swimsuit, and equipped with an oxygen tank and goggles, the man snatches five sets of steel handcuffs around his wrists and a pair of shackles around his ankles. He backs into the machine with a 14 inch door and 24 inch washing drum.

After almost a minute, he bangs on the glass, letting the other man know to open the door

The soapy man crawls out of the machine, and it is clear he's gotten out of the cuffs and shackles
